Decorating the Christmas Tree

My toddler absolutely loved decorating the Christmas tree and his current favourite activity is removing and then asking me to put back the decorations onto the Christmas tree.

These multi sensory Christmas tree activities were brilliant to keep my toddler entertained and away from the Christmas tree for two afternoons!! It would also work well babies and children

Set Up

These sensory Christmas tree activities were really simple to set up.

For both I simply added green gel food colouring to rice, salt and sugar for one and cooked spaghetti for the second activity. The trunk of the Christmas tree was created with Cocopops. The decorations I used were left over ones that had not made it onto the real Christmas tree. I also added electric tea lights which we had from previous small world activities.

My two year old immediately recognised both activities as Christmas trees and I modelled placing the decorations on the trees.

I kept both activities out for the afternoon and my son dipped in and out of them: rearranging decorations.

This was a lovely and easy sensory Christmas activity and one that we have repeated on a number of afternoons in the lead up to Christmas.
