A Little Bit About us…

We are Alex (top photo) and Isabell (bottom photo); sisters, mummies and experienced teachers and we are on a mission to help parents support their children's education and development at home through play.

Between us, we have over 20 years of experience in education. Alex was a teacher and Head of Reading at an inner-London Primary school, where the majority of children had English as an additional language. Isabell started her career as a teacher in school for children with severe, profound, multiple and additional needs. Isabell then went on to become the Head of Autism for a London Borough.

We put all our expertise, knowledge, experience and a whole lot of love into each one of our boxes to make our customers lives easier and to ensure that every child has fun whilst they learn!

All of our boxes are inspired by our specially chosen children’s books allowing your children to fall in love with the magic of stories.
Studies show that reading makes a big difference to children’s educational performance as it develops language and listening skills, stimulates imagination, expands their understanding of the world and encourages a healthy mind.
By using books as an anchor for the multi-sensory activities in the box, it allows children to relate and make connections, therefore helping them to learn quickly and retain the information!

The majority of learners are Kinaesthetic or Active learners, which is why we build our activities around learning through play. Active Learning is also proven to help the child retain the information by at least 40% vs worksheet based activities.
We ensure all of our activities are multi sensory and can be adapted for all ages and levels of development.
We also have a huge database of other active learning activities you can do with your child on our website using the resources that come in the box.

Getting outside is great for the mind and body, so at least one activity in your box will encourage you and your child to head outside and explore the natural world.
We believe in protecting the natural world and want to ensure that our impact on the environment is as small as possible. We are passionate that everything included in the box, including the box itself can be reused in as many different ways as possible and if not can be safely composted.

We understand as mums how hard (and exhausting!) it is to come up with activities on your own, purchase the necessary items needed and create and tidy them away! And now you don’t have to. Our Little Hands Learning monthly subscription box does all the hard work for you. It has the exact items needed to create 4 activities, plus the accompanying book to enjoy together. By using the month’s chosen book as an anchor for the activities in the box allows the children to relate and make connections with the activities, therefore helping them to learn quickly and retain the information!
