Number Regonition Tombola
This fun and simple to set up maths activity is a great way to help toddlers, preschoolers and older kids with their number recognition. It can be easily adapted to suit those who are only beginning to recognise numerals and also those able to recognise two digit or three digit numbers.
Set Up
So for this I gathered different soft toys that we have around the house as both my daughters are slightly obsessed with anything soft and cuddly! But you could tailor this to your child’s interests to include a selection of cars, dinosaurs, or just a random mixture of toys. I used raffle tickets for ease and speed but you could make your own using bits of paper and hand write the numbers on. Stick one of each number on a toy and the other is folded up into a pile.
So the point of the game just like a tombola is to choose a number and then find the matching number on the toy. For this tombola I made sure that every ticket would win a prize as didn’t want to upset anyone! I also made sure that M said what the number was that she had drawn before claiming her prize. We all took turns and we had to play this maths game over and over again.
This number recognition tombola game was so much fun and the fact that they wanted to play with it over and over again is proof of this. It was so simple to set up and was a great way of practicing number recognition. A maths game that we will playing lots more of in future!
