Finger Print Name Writing
This is a fun and easy name writing activity to help your child practice writing. It is a great activity for reluctant writers as doesn’t involve a pencil or pen. This idea can also be used with toddlers and older children to practice phonics, letter writing and number recognition.
Set Up
All you need for this activity is white paper or card and ink pads. I used these colourful ones. These are great for any finger printing craft. Decide whether you want to write your child’s name on one piece of paper or cut the paper into individual letters. An added activity if you cut the paper into letters is that it becomes puzzle activity where they have to rearrange the letters to make their own name. As we had done this before I used Mummy and Daddy’s name.
F loved this name writing activity! She is often very reluctant to do any painting with her hands so I wasn’t sure how this would go. But as the picture shows she got stuck in! I tried to focus on the colours she was using as the names weren’t necessarily relevant for her. M was very careful and happily worked away on her own initial.
I loved this name writing activity as much as the girls did. F enjoyed making marks and was so proud of what she had created. M worked independently the whole time and was also incredibly proud of what she had made. The work also looked really great! One thing to note was, I did bring an old towel with us which I got wet on one side so that they could wipe their fingers off in between. This is a great activity that can be used for lots of different purposes including learning phonics or numbers too. We will be trying this easy name writing activity at home again soon.
