Stained Glass Window

This is a fantastic and mess free toddler art activity. It would also be a great art activity for older children. The finished piece of work looks really good hung up on a window or glass door.

Set Up

For this mess free toddler art activity you will need tissue paper, a laminator and laminating pouches. I cut the tissue paper into squares, rectangles and triangles but if you had more time you could create all kinds of different shapes and this would then be also be a great activity for learning shape names.

I set up two open laminating pouches so I could model what my son needed to do and then create my own stained glass window.

As this toddler art idea is mess free it would be a great art activity to set up when you had other toddlers or children round for a play date.

My son was immediately drawn to the colours of the tissue paper against his black table. I modelled what he needed to do and he was then off creating his own mess free piece of art.

This was a really relaxing toddler art activity to do and we had a good old natter as we worked. We talked about the colours, the shapes and used some prepositions to explain where the shapes of tissue paper were going.

When laminating you need to place two pieces of A4 paper either side of the laminating pouch otherwise the laminator will chew up the art work. No one wants that.

Here is my son’s finished piece of art. It’s little sun faded now but it still looks really effective.

This is a mess free toddler art activity we will do again at home because it’s so simple, so effective and creates no mess!
