A Confused Felt Monster
This simple art activity for children and toddlers is another opportunity to discuss how our feelings can sometimes be all mixed up and how that makes us feel. The confused felt monster can then be used in a variety of different activities, including role play and story telling.
Set Up
On the bottom of each of our Colour Monster activity boxes we have drawn a monster template. You then just need to cut out the template, add the felt squares and any PVA glue you may have left from the May box and you are ready.
If you don’t want to use the felt squares your child could colour the monster using the crayons from the May activity box.
Together my son and I reread the beginning of The Colour Monster by Anna Llenas and I explained that the monster’s feelings were all mixed up and that happens to all of us. When that happens we can help to sort them out.
As we stuck each coloured felt square we discussed which emotion each colour represented and we talked about how each feeling made our bodies feel. Don’t forget to explain to your child how each emotions makes you feel. To build healthy minds we need to model our own emotions.
Since creating our confused colour monster we have used him in retelling the story of The Colour Monster by Anna Llenas.
Beautifully simple art activity for toddlers and children to further explore emotions.
