Washing Day!
This activity was such a hit with the girls; they played with and enjoyed it for ages. Water play, bubbles and a bit of imagination. What’s not to love! This activity could also very easily be in the motor skills and small world activity folders. There was very little prep involved and clearing afterwards was a doddle too! A great activity for all involved and one that we will be doing again and again.
Set Up
So apart from gathering up the items that we needed: a water sprayer; old baby/doll clothes, hotel toiletries, washing pegs and ribbon as the washing line. The rest of the prep I did with the girls present. As soon as they saw the bubbles forming in the water they got very excited!
The girls were desperate to get involved straight away. So much so that I struggled to get a picture of what it all looked like before they got stuck in. They were spraying, rinsing, scrubbing, rubbing soap in, wringing out and hanging the clothes up. It was a serious work out for their hands! Even F was attempting to hang the clothes up. They were also being so creative: as soon as the clothes were hung up, something had happened to them and that meant they needed to be cleaned all over again. “Uh oh,” “Oh no!”
What I loved about this activity, aside from the fact that it kept them busy for well over an hour and a half. Winning!!! Was the way that they were sharing and taking turns. They were playing so nicely together, there was not a single argument or moment of frustration. I was a very proud mummy! This is such a great activity for strengthening those hands and a fun way to keep cool on hot days. M has already asked when we can do this activity again!
