The City Loose Parts Play
Loose parts play is something that our children really enjoy and something that we enjoy setting up for them. Loose part play is great for developing creativity and imagination. It is open ended and allows children the opportunity to play as they want. Loose parts play is also great for developing children’s motor skills. Using the items from our March box we have set up the following loose parts play for our children.
Set up
So one the great things about this loose parts play activity is how easy it is to set for your children. Using the play dough, wood slices, felt balls, wooden cubes and wooden buttons from our March box I simply arranged this on a wooden chopping board and that’s it. Then its time to let your children’s creativity take over.
Watching the girls get to work playing is so interesting. They both have their own ideas of what they want to do. F straight away started using the various objects to mark make in the play dough saying “Me make shapes!” M wanted to create a mini world and created her own narrative to go with it.
Whilst they played I sat, watched and simply talked to them about what they were doing. They were very happy to just play and investigate by themselves. A simple loose parts play activity that sparks creativity.
