Snowman
Inspired by the book ‘The Snowy Day’ by Ezra Jack Keats this sensory snowman building activity is a wonderful way to sneak in some maths practice.
set up
For this sensory activity I used the white moon dough from our Snowy Day activity box, the glass pebbles from our Colour Monster activity box, the pebbles and blue gravel from our At the Seaside activity box.
Using the book as inspiration, my son and I created the body and head of the snowman together.
My son can confidently rote count to 15 but I wanted to check if he could count a set number of objects and this was a wonderful way to work on that skill.
This would also be a lovely activity to work on patterns and adding and taking away a set number. There are so many options in this type of activity.
