Counting Leaves
This multi-sensory Maths activity for toddlers and children is a wonderful way to practice counting, number recognition, addition and subtraction. It would also be a great activity for siblings to do together.
Set Up
For this simple Maths activity I used the paper leaves and the playdough from our Polar Bear activity box. I drew some trees onto small pieces of paper and added our wooden numbers.
You could also use real leaves, pine cones, conkers, helicopter seeds or acorns for this activity.
I put the playdough out to create snow on the bare trees to count but my son only wanted to use the leaves.
My son is 3 so we were focusing on counting accurately and number recognition. However this activity would be great for adding / taking away one and bigger addition and subtraction number sentences.
If you had two children, the youngest could count out the leaves whilst the oldest completed the number sentence… The possibilities are endless.
