Christmas Bauble Maths
This is a quick to set up Christmas activity that is great for a little bit of maths learning. I set this up for F for simple counting to 5. However when M got home we changed into a number bonds activity where she had to add the correct number of baubles to the tree to make 10 each time. This activity can be adapted for addition and subtractions sums too.
Set Up:
The girls had already created the mini Christas trees using cardboard, rice and glue all from our Christmas activity box. I then placed these onto the base of the postage box. Wrote the numbers on under each tree and added the chickpea baubles and it was ready!
F got started straight away and I couldn’t keep up. She completed the first three straight away. By number 4 though she started to need me to help her count. So we started counting together.
This activity was also great for developing those fine motor skills. F did sometimes find it tricky to pick up the chickpeas but did manage it. And when M got home we changed the activity slightly so that on each tree she had to put the number of baubles that would make 10 together with the number uinderneath ie 1 + 9 = 10.
