Family Faces
I wanted to introduce my son to puzzles. He had never shown any interest when we’d got the wooden insert puzzles out. He would often walk in the other direction. This activity was great because he loves looking at photos, recognising familiar faces and saying their names.
Set Up
A while ago, I had a load of photos printed out because I had a voucher. We hadn’t really done anything with them so they were perfect for this activity. I did laminate them, because I have a laminator and hoped that they would therefore last a little longer. But there really is no need to. I then cut the photos into two. If your little one is older you can cut them into more pieces,
My son can quickly become overwhelmed if there are too many options, so I only put two of the photo puzzles out. As he successfully matched the photos, I added more.
My little one needed my help to match the photo puzzle pieces together. But he quickly got the hang of it and started playing around with the faces.
He was so happy when he matched a photo correctly. He struggles to say the names of his cousins so this was a great activity to practice that skill as well.
Once we’d finished, playing I put the photo pieces into a zip lock bag so that we can play with them whenever we have a spare 5 minutes in the day.
