Painting Starfish
This art activity for toddlers and older kids too uses the starfish that we created in our Salt Dough Star Fish Activity from our At the Seaside Activity Box. It is a simple to set up art activity that creates minimal mess and therefore is a stress free art idea to try at home.
Set Up:
For this easy art activity I used the salt dough star fish we had made in our Salt Dough Star Fish activity and the paint brush and blue paint block from our At the Seaside Activity Box. I also added a jar of water and it was ready to go.
When M had been making her starfish she had already asked what colour star fish were. So after having a quick google we found these beautiful bright blue star fish which M instantly thought looked amazing. So when she saw this activity set up M was very excited to paint her star fish.
Both girls enjoyed this activity and busily and quietly got to work painting their star fish blue. We talked about how much water to add from our brush and discovered that the less water we had the darker the blue colour would be on our starfish. M loved the fact that the pattern she had previously made on her star fish did not disappear when she added paint, far from it in fact it seemed to emphasize all the little dots and marks she had created. As this type of painting was so simple and no way to “get it wrong” or need any help they both found it very relaxing too. A perfect painting activity to try at the end of a busy or hectic day. So nice and calming and therapeutic!
