Baby and Daddy / Mummy Time

This is such a simple but effective activity and requires no set up at all. Just lie next to your baby and let them look, explore and get to know your face. Encourage them to reach out and touch your nose, lips, chin. Babies are attracted to faces and in particular eyes. Letting them get to know your face will help when comforting them and enabling them to learn about the social world.

Newborns can not see very far. Their ability to see further does develop as they can older. They say a newborn can only see about 8-15 inches away. So make sure you get nice and close. Also don’t forget to talk to them. Newborns are said to be able to recognise voices they heard in the uterus. So talk.
