Snowy Tree
This is a wonderfully easy and relatively mess free winter art activity for toddlers and children. By using resources in your kitchen cupboard and art box your toddler or child can create an impressive piece of winter art independently.
I am a huge advocate of any art activity that a child can complete themselves without any adult intervention and this winter art activity is perfect for this. It would also make an impressive Christmas card to send.
Set Up
This winter art activity for toddlers and children was simple and easy to set up. While my 2 year old was sleeping I drew a tree onto two pieces of dark blue card. I used dark blue card so the tree and the snow would stand out against the background. I created two pictures so that I could model what my toddler needed to do and he could then create his own piece of winter art. I had some old marshmallows that had been opened at Guy Fawkes night so they were slightly firm. I pierced a cocktail stick through each one and put some white paint into an old tupperware box.
I modeled what my two year old needed to do, he watched carefully and then without any prompting he started to create his own piece of winter art.
Throughout the afternoon my toddler would go off to play with something else and then would always come back to continue creating his winter art piece.
