Lolly Stick Christmas Decorations
These Christmas decorations are simple for toddlers and older kids to create. They make great Christmas presents for relatives too. Adding small items like sequins or buttons to these Christmas decorations is great for developing toddlers and older kids fine motor skills too.
Set Up
For both Christmas decorations your children will need lolly sticks and PVA glue. For the Christmas trees you will need green lolly sticks and a small rectangle of cardboard (from an old cardboard box is perfect) and old buttons.
For the stars I used a hot glue gun, for speed, to glue the sticks together. My two children then used sequins to decorate the stars but buttons or stickers could work too.
For the Christmas trees, I got the girls to put the lolly sticks into the shape of a triangle and then we glued them together and added the cardboard. We let the glue dry first before adding the buttons as otherwise they would have almost certainly pulled the triangle shape apart. They both enjoyed sorting through the buttons and sequins looking for particular colours.
I had originally only planned on doing one of these lolly stick Christmas tree decorations with my children but as they enjoyed it so much they wanted to do more. They really are very simple and look great hung up.
